Fall Tournament Wrap-Up
October 29, 2007

Ashley Stewart with her 1st Place wahoo. The fall leg of the Calcutta Wahoo Challenge was another great success with 42 boats vying for the almost $60,000 purse. Local Captain Junior Johnson aboard the Live Wire took home the lions share of the winnings placing 1st & 3rd overall, 1st & 3rd in the TWT, 1st in the one tournament aggregate as well as top Lady Angler.

The winning fish weighed in at 47.70 lbs. and was reeled in by lady angler Ashley Stewart. Their 3rd place fish, weighing in at 41.15 lbs. was caught by angler Tim Price. Congratulations to Junior and crew!

Newcomer to this event, Rameseas, with Captain Rock Wells and angler Steven Wells, took 2nd overall and snagged 2nd place in the TWT with a 41.05 lb. wahoo.

Pig Rig took home 4th place with Captain Chris Russell at the helm and angler Jamie Royal weighing in a 37.20 lb. fish. Weldor’s Ark hit the board again taking home 5th place and the two tournament aggregate with Capt. Mike Taylor and angler Glenn Krofchick hitting the scales with a 37.20 lb. wahoo.

We're pleased to announce that our CWC Raffle raised $6,220 and we gave away tons of prizes. The Live Auction held on Saturday evening was another huge success with trips to Key West, Golf Packages, Original Artwork, and Autographed Sports Memorabilia which helped raise $20,400! The total from these two events go directly to our worthy charities—Take a Kid Fishing and Hospice of Carteret County.

The numbers are currently being tallied and we're on track to exceed last years’ donations. This would not be possible without our generous Sponsors. Calcutta, Wachovia, Randy Bryant Builders, and newcomers Chico’s, White House | Black Market, and Soma Intimates top the board for sponsorship dollars and we are very pleased to be working with such industry leaders. Much thanks also to Atlantic Beverage/Budweiser, Gregory Poole Marine Power, A-1 Sign Shop, Morehead Marine, Shimano, Town Creek Marina, and our new sponsor Land Rover Cape Fear for their support and generosity. We would also like to thank Covington Diesel, Maui Jim Sunglasses, Sea Striker/Star Rods, Regions Bank, EJW Outdoors, Straightline Utilities, Sensation Sportfishing, Bailey’s Fine Jewelry, Jarrett Bay Boatworks, Brice Landscaping, Alexseal, Coastal Awnings, and Parker Pontiac.

These businesses give of their time and resources and without their support we would not be able to fulfill the dreams of disadvantaged youth and those in need at the end of life. Again, we applaud you and thank you for all you do! We would also like to acknowledge Cubbie’s, Roland’s, Outback Restaurant, Aqua, Clawson’s, Floyd’s 1921, Bistro By the Sea, Island Grille, Sandbar and Kelly Lynn’s Catering for providing us with such wonderful food throughout the event.

Just a reminder that the CWC will go to a fall only event in 2008. The Spring leg proved to be a conflict with a lot of our Sponsors and fishermen were busy fishing for tuna. So look for us again in October 2008 for fun, fishing, and fund raising!
